What is your Mindset?

What is your state of mind?

Just because you can hit the target at the range, doesn’t mean your state of mind is prepared. So when do you decide to take another person’s life?

Knowing beforehand how you will react to a dangerous situation and where your line in the sand is and stands is vital. You will not have the time to make that decision in the heat of the moment.

When your life is being threatened, your body goes into ‘survival mode’. Meaning you react first and think later. Whatever you have instilled in your mind and your personal instincts will dictate how you will react. Don’t make the mistake of waiting until then to prepare your mind. Most likely you will react without thinking and regret your actions later. Be it beyond the grave or possibly behind a jail cell.

Are you prepared to react to danger?

Taking the life of another human is a serious thing to contemplate. Do not take it lightly. However, why train with a pistol or carry a gun if you do not intend to defend yourself or those around you with deadly force?

Make a point to know the laws in your area. What is allowed and what isn’t? Take a serious look at those laws. Do they follow the constitution? Do they restrict your freedoms? If they do, are you willing to go to jail for saving someone’s life? Decide now where you stand with that and how you will react. Personally, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. For that matter, I would rather be judged by 12 than attend a funeral of a loved one.

Are you Afraid?

Do not be afraid to use deadly force. However, there are ways to avoid a confrontation of that sort. Keeping an eye on your surroundings and using the 30 ft rule will help you identify a threat before it escalates. Simply pulling your gun and warning off an aggressor can prevent a disaster. Most bad guys are after easy prey. Just be prepared to follow up your threat, if they persist in harming you or someone else, react accordingly.

I hope this information was of use. I would love to hear your opinion on the matter.

How do you feel the proper mindset should be when facing deadly force? Write a comment and let us know.
