How S.E.R.E. is Connected to Torture Resistance

First, I would like to explain that there is a reason why evasion & escape tactics are so heavily notated by professionals in the tactical field. This is because no one wants to end up using their training on how to resist torture and/or interrogation by the enemy.

Furthermore, I don't know a single person that wanted to get caught and tortured. Let me repeat that obvious statement, no one wants to have to resist torture. This is why resistance training (how to resist torture) is crucial. So PAY ATTENTION!

No ONE can 100% Resist Torture

You are going to talk. It is just a matter of time. No one can resist torture 100% without breaking eventually. The key here is to give you time to escape and your family, team, community, etc. enough time to relocate and/or change vital information before you talk. 3 days should be your goal.

However, there is a way that you can talk in such a manner that it sets up your captors for an ambush and gives you a chance to escape.

Thinking Ahead

This is best done if you've worked with your community, your team and your family ahead of time. This way, in the event that anyone gets captured, your network will know what to do.

The first thing is to mislead your captors by telling half-truths. An entire lie is too easy to see past. So you're going to want to run with something that is easy for you to remember and believable.

Setting the Ambush

For example: I'm being interrogated and I tell my captors that my family probably ran to the church after the attack. The reason why I think this is because they are familiar with the church, they have a key to the building and there is food, water and shelter there.

However, what my captors didn't know was that my family went in the opposite direction and the church was actually guarded by the community in that area.

Furthermore, it'll be even better if you can convince them to take you along and show them the way. This gives you a chance to escape and/or give your network a chance to rescue you at the church.
