The Parents of: Gigi
Tackleberry Solution's Protection Canine: Hazel
This is Hazel. She was the mother dog of our very first litter. She has a gentle, yet defensive temperament. She is very loving, she also is smart and not afraid to protect her family. She is also a very good judge of friend from foe. We are not afraid to have her out when friends come over to visit. You can learn more about Hazel by going to her page here.
Tackleberry Solution's Protection Canine: Zeus
Zeus is a 100% European purebred Doberman Pinscher. He is very loving and enjoys playing. While Zeus is protective of his family, he is also very friendly to visitors and does very well with children. Click here to view his personal page.
Training
Gigi has had formal training by Off Leash K9 Training and graduated May 14, 2023. This pdf (linked here) was presented with her graduation as a rundown of her commands and how she was trained while it was noted not everything in the pdf would be necessarily applicable to every dog. Any questions regarding her training can be answered during contact.
Social Outing Assessment October 2022 Age: 12 weeks
In public, Gigi behaved like a champ. I sincerely do believe that she's going to make someone an excellent service dog or even just a great family pet.
I took her to the park on a day where there were tons of children wearing costumes for a trunk or treat night. Despite being masked in all sorts of different costumes, Gigi was friendly to everyone. (Contrary to popular belief, this is actually a good thing. Dogs that are automatically distrustful of everyone are exhibiting signs of fear. Fearful aggression = not good.)
She continued to display her playful and curious nature. Even tried to climb onto the playground in order to explore and engage with the other children.
There was one child in particular that loved all over her and had a blast running around behind her while holding her leash. (I've pictured her below.)
Interaction with Other Dogs
In watching her, I've found that she tends to be more submissive towards her siblings and would probably do really well with other pets in the home.
Possible Protection Work
At this point, possible protection work with Gigi is yet to be determined. She doesn't show fear in public and she has a high play drive. All of these factors are a great starting point for protection work training. However, her submissive actions among her siblings indicate a degree of fearfulness. Only time and further training will provide a better answer.
